Painted in oil, on cradled birch with painted paper birds on wires.
I like to put colors together that bounce when they touch. The dog has some greens and turquoise in his black, and the ground is a green/grey, both react subtly with the vermillion, a color I love that exemplifies energy and life.
This painting was based on a photograph I took of a young girl skateboarding down the Prado in Havana. The girl was skateboarding through a group of men, they turned to watch her go by, some commenting and winking, but she just ignored them, listening to music on her ear buds. Though we were in Havana we could have been anywhere in the world. Same scenario. Girls going about being who they are, focusing on their path, listening to their own beat, making the world make way for them.
Skater Girl with Pigeons 18″ x 24″. This painting is sold.
