The Art Critic

This painting was created from a photograph I took of a man sitting in a chair at an art gallery opening. He was surrounded by plants, sculptures and paintings, and was looking at his phone. What I like about this painting is its ambiguity about the man’s interest. Is he experiencing the beauty and energy surrounding him, and thus capturing it in words on his phone? Or, is he engrossed in his phone and untouched by what surrounds him?
